Baby Isla’s parents, Kristen and Greg, wanted an In-Home Newborn session to document their first days at home together as a family of three.
A few months prior, I had documented Kristen’s pregnancy and hers and Greg’s IVF journey to parenthood. (Read about it here!). I was honoured to be asked again to continue to tell their story. The resulting images help preserve such and incredibly special milestone for their family.
While I offer Studio Newborn Sessions, I also love doing In-Home Newborn Sessions! Both are beautiful but distinctly different. Studio sessions are more focused on posing baby to create classic portraiture. Sessions done at home are documentary in style, and focus on the parents’ interaction with their new little one in the comfort of their own environment.
The resulting images are contextual and storytelling. Each family’s gallery is distinctly different from another’s.
The Gallery
Below are just a handful of images from baby Isla’s in-home newborn session gallery. The first set below gives you a sense of the beautiful space Isla gets to call home.
The Details
The second set below pulls you into the details a little more. Tiny toes and fingers, poised to change and grow each day. Forever documented in priceless stills.
One of the things I love about In-Home Newborn Sessions is that no two sessions flow the same way. Baby’s needs come first, so if you need to pause to feed baby or change a diaper, I can document that too. These most ordinary moments will become mementos to treasure forever! Time is a thief and your little one will be all grown up before you know it!
Why should you book newborn and maternity sessions together?
When you decide you want to document your little one’s first days out in this big world, you’re focusing on capturing and preserving their littleness. And rightly so! They will never again be this small, this curly, this tender!
But whether this is your first pregnancy or your third, documenting them before their arrival is just as important. As a mom, you will always put your little one first. Just don’t forget to celebrate your journey to motherhood. No matter how you think you look or feel, I promise you, you will not regret having those images. And neither will your child.
The bonus of booking one photographer to capture both sessions is twofold.
- You can get to know and build up trust with your photographer before they ever have to meet or handle your baby.
- You will have a consistent style tying your two sessions together. This makes creating and blending albums or wall art from both sessions super easy.
One other bonus or booking both sessions with me is that you receive a booking bonus on your newborn session after you book your maternity session! š (I also have a “Grow-With-Me” package if you choose to book three or more sessions – reach out for more details!)
